Just after delivery due to some abnormalities a swelling appears below the umbilicus or in the region of bladder which causes colicy pain in the umbilical region or in the whole abdomen and this condition is known as Makkala Śūla. In this the distension of abdomen and retention of urine also occur.
Treatment
Single Drugs
1. Powdered fruit of Dhānyaka (coriander)-3 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. old Guḍa (jaggery), twice a day.
Simple Preparations
1. Caturjātaka Cūrṇa-3 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. old Guḍa (jaggery) twice a day.
2. Trikaṭu Cūrṇa-3 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. old Guḍa (jaggery) twice a day.
3. Yavakṣāra-1 to 3 g. to be taken with 50 ml. warm or Pippalyādi Kvātha-14 to 28 ml. twice a day.
4. Powder of equal of Śuṇṭhī (dried ginger), Marica (black pepper), fruit of Pippalī (long pepper), Tvak-Dālacīnī (cinnamon bark), Teja Patra (tamal leaf), Bṛhad Elā (large cardamom), Nāgakeśara (Indian ironwood flower stamen), seed of Tumburu (toothache tree)-1 to 3 g. to be taken with old Guḍa (jaggery) twice a day.
Compound Preparations
1. Devadārayādi Kvātha: 14 to 28 ml. to be taken with 1 g. Hiṅgu (asafoetida) and 1 g. Saindhava (rock-salt) twice a day.
